Our Employee Spotlight series shows off our wonderful staff and takes you along to learn more about the stories and backgrounds of our team members at Bliss Dermatology + Wellness. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Gabby.
Tell us about yourself! How did you get into dermatology?
I got into dermatology because I wanted to do more with the skin after becoming a makeup artist. I was lucky enough to be trained at a private practice in The Villages and have been working in dermatology for the past 3 years. I am currently in school pursuing the PA program at USF!
Why are you passionate about dermatology?
I am passionate about dermatology because of how complex it is. I love that dermatology can encompass cosmetics, surgeries, preventative skin exams, and minor procedures all in one specialty. It is amazing to see how smart the skin is and how it can be the first indicator that something is going on internally.
What motivates you to come in and do your best every day?
The patients and my future in PA school motivate me to come in and do my best every day. I value the relationships I make with the patients and do my best to treat everyone as if they were my own family. As a patient myself, I understand the importance of a thorough visit where patients feel comfortable, cared for, and listened to.
Which of our core values resonate the most with you?
The core value that resonates with me most is to demonstrate kindness. I feel that it is so important to treat everyone you encounter with respect and compassion.
What advice do you have for someone considering a career in the dermatology field?
I would say don’t hesitate and jump right in. Dermatology has so many facets that it is impossible to get bored. I would also say that you will never stop learning. Despite working in this field for 3 years, I can confidently say that I am still learning new things all the time. I am very grateful to have worked with many doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in this field, and appreciate that everyone does things differently!
What is your #1 skin care tip?
My biggest skin care tip is definitely SPF. The sun can be our best friend but also our biggest enemy down the line. SPF protects your skin from harmful rays and is your overall best friend when it comes to anti-aging. Being religious with sun protection will save you from many dermatology visits in the future!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones (friends, family, and my amazing boyfriend), traveling, and scoping out new restaurants and coffee shops.
Stay tuned for next month’s Employee Spotlight to get another close up look at our spectacular team at Bliss Dermatology + Wellness.
